Ladies Mountain Bike Skills Week.
Learn while you ride, ride while you learn. Easy going & loads of fun!
What’s it about?
We've put this week together due to a growing number of Ladies telling us that they really enjoy being out on their bikes but "I'd love to better at the technical stuff" or "I wish I could do..." What we aim to do is to improve your riding skills, improve your confidence and have a great weeks riding amid stunning scenery.
Our format is structured only is as much as we aim to teach you certain skills during the week. The skills sessions are incorporated into day rides and will include things that are useful for the types of riding most of us do, which is of course Cross Country.
We'll teach you things like:
 |
how to set your bike up properly |
 |
how to make sure your bike is safe to ride |
 |
how to change your own brake pads, mend a puncture, set up your own gears etc. |
 |
how to master climbing |
 |
how to master descending |
 |
how to use wheelies to get over obstacles |
 |
how to use braking to make tight turns |
 |
how to ride down steps |
 |
how to ride drop offs |
 |
etc |
Each day we'll have our video camera handy, unobtrusively of course, and you'll have the chance to see yourself riding sections and we'll analyze how you can improve things together.
How does the week run?
Day 1
You'll take the Airport Shuttle from Salzburg Airport to your wonderful 4 star wellness Hotel in Kaprun where you'll have chance to settle in. If you brought your own bike there'll be time to assemble it and make sure it's running ok and if you're hiring one of ours, to make sure the set up is right for you and that you're happy. Before dinner we'll have a short briefing about what the week holds in store and you can ask us any amount of questions.
Days 2 to 4
We'll do a full day ride each day leaving around 9 or 9.30am, having lunch up in the mountains and be back at the hotel by around 4-5pm. Because this is a skills week the days will be about how much you learn and how much fun you have rather than how many miles we cover.
Day 5
Today both body and soul will be ready for a rest and there is no shortage of great things to do here whatever your interests. You can laze by the lake, go hiking or canyoning or horseriding or take a trip into Salzburg to shop, see the sights or chill and watch the world go by.
Day 6
As day two to four
Day 7
Today we'll do a longer day ride which will put into practice everything you've learned this week followed by a feedback session over coffee and cake. In the evening we'll have a wonderful meal together and a few drinks to celebrate your new found skills, confidence and hopefully, friends! We'll also be awarding a stylish Over the Edge T shirt to the lady who's riding we think has seen the biggest improvement during the week.
Day 8
This is the sad but glad day. Sad to be leaving but glad you came, glad you learned so much and glad you made some new friends.
What’s the local
riding like?
The riding in this area is wonderful, quite simply. Great singletrack, awesome scenery, climbs, rocks, roots, grassy meadows and all tailored to what we're trying to achieve this week.
Group numbers and ability levels
We want everyone to get the very best out of this week so we're limiting group numbers to 6 and there'll be a qualified female guide so you're guaranteed all the friendly help and advice you need.
As for how good you have to be, well, that's just the point, you don't have to be! Everyone is welcome.
WE NOW ALSO NOW HAVE SKILLS WEEKS AVAILABLE IN OUR AMAZING ITALY LOCATION : CLICK HERE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
